Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve heard from many in the “white/gray-hat” side of IT security that the Great Sony Hack of 2014 was most likely from an inside source. And here’s another one.
Of course, the FBI, being the great and mighty FBI, is still blaming the Norks.
A woman was killed by her two-year-old son because he found it in her purse while at a Wal-Mart.
I’m not a fan of off-body carry, especially when there are tiny hands and inquisitive minds about. I also realize that on-body carry may not always be available, especially for women. IMHO, that means more attention needs to be paid to where the gun is and who is near it.
If you are going to be off-body carrying, please keep this incident in mind and remember to have your weapon under control at all times.
Oh, and if you’re going to use this incident to tell me why we shouldn’t have guns, you’re a fucking vulture and a blood-dancer and you can go to step on a broken Lego.
Let’s end 2014 with Freddie Mercury.

For the last Friday Quote of the year, I give you a quote of hope for the future:
It is now feasible to take care of everyone on Earth at a higher standard of living than have ever known. It no longer has to be you or me. Selfishness is unnecessary. War is obsolete. It is a matter of converting high technology from weaponry to livingry.
R. Buckminster Fuller
I don’t think we, as a species, have quite reached this point. Still, I have hope that one day humanity will reach it.
I’m putting this up for my readers who will be celebrating Christmas on Thursday. I realize that most people associate this song with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but it was actually released originally on Savatage’s “Dead Winter Dead.” Hence, it is listed under Savatage on this blog.
Thus endeth the pedantry.
Tomorrow is the birthday of the “White Death,” so we have Sabaton’s “White Death.”
Who is the “White Death?” This guy, Simo Hayha. A sniper so bad-assed that the Soviets called in an artillery strike on him rather than dealing with him.

Obviously not having learned from the pushback on #Gamergate, the Social Justice Warriors are marching on the Gates of Metal.
Picked this up from Larry Corriea’s blog:
Really? You want to attack a subset of the population that, in the enjoyment of their music, ritually do violence to each other? Are you sure you’ve thought this through?
Personally, I’d love for them to be forced to sit through a full Manowar set. Their heads would pop like unwanted acne.
My office pooled our funds and purchased a Keurig. I’ve been enjoying the time savings for my tea. Then, I tried a new brand of tea and the machine decided to throw an error. Oh, the new cups don’t have the chip that tells the machine that it’s an official licensed cup or some such bullshit.
Except, there’s always a way around such foolishness.
You can truly grieve for every officer who’s been lost in the line of duty in this country and still be troubled by cases of police overreach. These two ideas are not mutually exclusive. You can have great regard for law enforcement and still want them to be held to high standards.
H/t to many friends on the Book of Face
