In Chapter 108, the team says good-bye to Jim and get ominous news from Wolf. Castle and the Truth bide their time in Chicago, waiting to go into the City of the Dead. Jess goes to see Rachel and gets more than one surprise.
Next week, starts Part 11, the final part of Zombie Strike!
This is probably one of the quintessential pithy quotes against socialism. In very few cases can the government create value, and never as efficiently as the private sector.
A nine millimeter handgun is the gun equivalent of eight-inch chef’s knife.
The Brother/NetThrall – yesterday after going to the range.
My brother is not into guns. He went to the range yesterday with our mom and me mostly because of family time. Still, he’s been around gunnies enough to know how to handle them properly.
He made the above comment after I was pestering him for opinions on my M&P 9 he fired. After pondering on it, he’s more right than I initially thought. When a person comes up to me and asks what I think they should look at for their first gun, I inevitably point them to some kind of nine millimeter semi-automatic. Why? Because nine millimeter will do the job just as effectively as .40 or .45, in most instances. Because nine millimeter doesn’t kick as much. Because nine millimeter is cheaper. Finally, because everyone makes a nine millimeter, so it’s easy to find one that suits your preferences.
So, IMHO, the nine millimeter handgun should be considered as part of the basic weapons that most people should have in their inventories. Maybe more than one.
Yes, the words of victims have special poignancy, but what they don’t have is any special truth. Grief drives us to look toward the heavens and demand an answer from any nearby Deity. Grief drives us to demand a solution to the fundamental insoluble problem, which is that the world is as it is. Bad things happen, often to good people, and grief drives us to…do something.
You should really RTWT. Michael really gets into how victims are harvested for political purposes. Humans have evolved with this belief in the story. It’s why witness accounts are desired in court, even though human beings tend to make lousy witnesses. It’s why companies fear bad reviews, even when the statistics say they have a better product or provide a better service. Stories have power in the human mind.
This week’s Metal Tuesday is Sabaton’s “Back In Control,” and dedicated to the memory of Margaret Thatcher.
This was the song that really got me into Sabaton. My brother gave me a bunch of music and I threw it into a playlist. While I was working, I suddenly realized what I was listening to. Sweet FSM, this song is about the Falklands War!
I don’t think Great Britain would have held the Falklands if not for the Iron Lady. Going back through transcripts and videos from the time, her will and determination were almost physical entities of their own. Anyways, here’s the video:
Sent to the islands to secure what is ours
Marching ashore in the cover of night
Hide until dawn and attack in the twilight
Shake them awake with the thunder of guns
Orders from the iron maiden, (get the islands back)
Failure will not be accepted, call for artillery strike, launch attack
We are (back in control), force them to surrender
(take what is ours), restore law and order
(back in control), push them further out to sea
(Falklands in our hands), back under British reign
Push them back further and out from the islands
Into our fleet that will stop their retreat
Mark their positions and call in the Air Force
Harriers and Vulcans strikes at our command
Orders from the iron maiden, (get the islands back)
Failure will not be accepted, call for artillery strike, launch attack
We are (back in control), force them to surrender
(take what is ours), restore law and order
(back in control), push them further out to sea
(Falklands in our hands), back under British reign
Back in control, force them to surrender
Take what is ours, restore law and order
(back in control), push them further out to sea
(Falklands in our hands)
(back in control), force them to surrender
(take what is ours), restore law and order
(back in control), push them further out to sea
(Falklands in our hands), back under British reign
In Chapter 106, Zombie Strike battles a swarm of gollums and the minion controlling them. Afterwards, they realize what Jocasta’s true goal was in Jerusalem.
