Friday Quote- P. J. O’Rourke

“It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights – the ‘right’ to education, the ‘right’ to healthcare, the ‘right’ to food and housing. That’s not freedom. That’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery – hay and barn for human cattle.”

Metal Tuesday – Garth Brooks – Ireland

I know what you’re thinking. What in the hell is Derek thinking putting a Garth Brooks song for Metal Tuesday? Well, because this is the St. Patrick’s Day edition, and this song fucking rocks.

I’m putting up two versions. The first is Garth’s version. The second is more traditional by a man named Brian Sheehan. You can choose which you like the best.

Lyrics:

They say mother earth is breathing

With each wave that finds the shore

Her soul rises in the evening

For to open twilights door

Her eyes are the stars in heaven

Watching o’er us all the while

And her heart it is in Ireland

Deep within the Emerald Isle
We are forty against hundreds

In someone else’s bloody war

We know not why were fighting

Or what we’re dying for

They will storm us in the morning

When the sunlight turns to sky

Death is waiting for its dance now

Fate has sentenced us to die
Ireland I am coming home

I can see your rolling fields of green

And fences made of stone

I am reaching out won’t you take my hand

I’m coming home Ireland
Oh the captain he lay bleeding

I can hear him calling me

These men are yours now for the leading

Show them to their destiny

As I look up all around me

I see the ragged tired and torn

I tell them to make ready

‘Cause we’re not waiting for the morn
Ireland I am coming home

I can see your rolling fields of green

And fences made of stone

I am reaching out won’t you take my hand

I’m coming home Ireland
Now the fog is deep and heavy

As we forge the dark and fear

We can hear their horses breathing

As in silence we draw near

There are no words to be spoken

Just a look to say good-bye I draw a breath and night is broken

As I scream our battle cry
Ireland I am coming home

I can see your rolling fields of green

And fences made of stone

I am reaching out won’t you take my hand

I’m coming home Ireland

Yes I am home Ireland
We were forty against hundreds

Friday Quote – Nate Pyle

“We’ve been taught that a woman’s body will cause men to sin. We’re told that if a woman shows too much of her body men will do stupid things. Let me be clear: a woman’s body is not dangerous to you. Her body will not cause you harm. It will not make you do stupid things. If you do stupid things, it is because you chose to do stupid things.”

Metal Tuesday – Black Majesty – Silent Company

We haven’t heard from Black Majesty in a while, and this song has been going through my head. Which is how I pick most of the songs for this bit.

Lyrics:

We all try hard to find our faith

But circumstances choose our paths

What awaits us will stand at the end of the road

So we work to buy our time

We watch our children as they strive

Still not understanding what is passing us by
If it’s free I want to be like a sail set out to sea

Set a course never returning back to the shores
Our time will come and will surely pass us by

What remains are only memories worth remembering

Silent company observant they rest and they wait

For our life an end to arrive
We’re all content and satisfied

Whether there’s truth within the lies

There’s a purpose for every reason that comes our way

Never noticed to wonder why

Our eyes are open still we’re blind

There’s a fear in knowing what’s on the other side
If it’s free I want to be

Just like them I’ll ride the breeze

Walk alone and knowing never alone we will be

Metal Tuesday- Five Finger Death Punch – Anywhere But Here

I’m feeling a bith thrashy today. So, let’s do some Five Finger Death Punch.

Lyrics:

Some say a storm is coming,

Some say the end is near,

Some think it’s all so hazy,

I think it’s all so clear.
If it all ends tomorrow,

If it all disappears

Where do you think you’re going?

Anywhere else but here!
I don’t claim to have the reasons!

All I know is

If the world stops spinning tomorrow

I’d never shed a tear!

I’d rather be anywhere, anywhere, anywhere but here!
Some say they have the answers,

Some say they know the truth,

Some people live in question,

Some people have no clue.
If there was no tomorrow,

If there was just today

Would you make different choices

Or would you stay the same?
I don’t claim to have the reasons!

All I know is

If the world stops spinning tomorrow

I’d never shed a tear!

I’d rather be anywhere, anywhere, anywhere but here!
If there was no tomorrow,

If there was no tomorrow,

If there was no tomorrow

Would you stay, would you stay the same?
If there was no tomorrow,

If there was no tomorrow,

If there was no tomorrow

Would you stay, would you stay the same?
If the world stops spinning tomorrow

I’d never shed a tear!

I’d rather be anywhere, anywhere, anywhere!
If the world stops spinning tomorrow

I’d never shed a tear!

I’d rather be anywhere, anywhere, anywhere but here!
