The Afghanistan Papers

The Washington Post has done some excellent investigative work about how we’ve been lied to for the last three administrations about the progress of the Afghanistan War.

Essentially, we’re not winning. We’re not even holding the line. The Bush, Obama, and Trump administrations were/are aware of that, even while telling the public that things were going great. We are making the same damned mistake that we made in Vietnam – staying in because we would look bad by losing. Worse, we’re killing our soldiers and their people by staying there. Love him or hate him, but John Kerry was right when he asked “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?”

Some are complaining that these revelations haven’t had the impact that the Pentagon Papers had almost fifty years ago. Some of that is the fact that we aren’t the same nation. We know that our leaders lie to us. It also doesn’t help that this landed in the middle of the President Trump Reality Show (Impeachment Season 2).

Dinosaur Tail Preserved In Amber

The most noticeable feature is that it is covered in feathers.

The 99-million-year-old amber had already been polished for jewellery and the seller had thought it was plant material. On closer inspection, however, it turned out to be the tail of a feathered dinosaur about the size of a sparrow.

From what I understand, feathers started out as a means of insulation and only later evolved to help with flight.

Sanctuary? Maybe.

After the Dems got their newly-minted control of Virginia’s state government, they went wild with gun control proposals. In response, a slew of counties declared themselves as “Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties.” The RKBA side went wild with their approval of local sheriffs defying their state’s unconstitutional actions.

I support the stance as well, but I don’t trust a damn one of them when push comes to shove. Oh, they might look the wrong way if one of their county residents defy the law. I don’t think for a minute that they will actually stand up to the state when the governor sends in the state police.

Why? Because recent history has shown that when the locals defy the feds or the state, they will roll over when they are forced to cooperate.

I appreciate the virtual signalling (because that’s all it is right now).
