An album of great power metal suddenly broken by a song from the Beach Boys. Jarring and enjoyable.

Christopher Lee Has Passed On
Hobbits, Jedi, Nazis, and Metal-Haters are celebrating, I’m sure.
Seriously, Sir Christopher was a raging badass. He went to fight with the Finns in the Winter War. At the end of WWII, he was on a team that hunted down Nazis!
Plus, he was a metal head, working with several bands and releasing two Christmas Metal albums.
You will be missed, Sir Christopher, but you have earned your rest.
Metal Tuesday – Firewind – Maniac
Powermetal meets Flashdance. What could go wrong? This is Firewind’s cover of Michael Sembello’s iconic song.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=BmhZFV3WbDM
Just a steel town girl on a Saturday night
Looking for the fight of her life
In the real time world no one sees her at all
They all say she’s crazy
Locking rhythm to the beat of her heart
Changing movement into light
She had danced into the danger zone
When the dancer becomes the dance
It can cut you like a knife
if the fight becomes the fire
On the wire between will and what will be
She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
On the ice blue line of insanity
Is a place most never see
It’s a hard won place of mystery,
Touch it but can’t hold it
You work all your life, for that moment in time
It could come or pass you by
It’s a push shove world
But there’s always a chance
If the hunger stays the night
There’s a cold connective heat
Struggling stretching for the peak
Never stopping with her head against the wind
She’s a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
She’s a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
It can cut you like a knife
If the fight becomes the fire
On the wire between will and what will be
She’s a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
She’s a maniac, maniac I sure know
And she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
I sure know, and she’s dancing like she’s never danced before
She’s a maniac, maniac I sure know
Metal Tuesday – Five Finger Death Punch – The House of the Rising Sun
Because I do this to entertain me, I’ve decided that June is going to be “Covers Month.”
First up, Five Finger Death Punch’s “The House of the Rising Sun.” According to Wikipedia, this song is a lot older than I thought. The earliest recording was in 1934, and the song may have its roots in the late 19th century. Odd things I’ve learned doing this.
Lyrics:
There is a house in Sin City
They call the Rising Sun
And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I’m one
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin’ man
Down in Sin City
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he’s satisfied
Is when he’s on a drunk
Well, I’ve got one foot on the platform
The other’s on the train
I’m goin’ back to Sin City
To wear that ball and chain
Well, mothers, tell your children
Never do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the house of the rising sun
In the house of the rising sun
Well, there is a house in Sin City
They call the Rising Sun
And it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God knows, that I, I’m one
Metal Tuesday – Within Temptation – A Demon’s Fate
We haven’t done Within Temptation for a while, so I thought it was time.

Metal Thursday Deal Alert
Okay, it’s not my normal metal day, but one of my favorite bands, Amaranthe, has their Nexus album on Amazon’s $5 deals.
Metal Tuesday – Sleeze Beez – Screwed Blued & TattooedÂÂ
I must have driven people insane singing the refrain from this song when I was younger. So, I share the joy.

Lyrics:
Sirens wail, raising hell
I’m smokin’ out the bars
I know you nasty women can’t be far
We’re heading for the exit
She stepped out on me
She said “Don’t you waste my time
I’ve been around the bush
Your place or mine?”
I said “Honey, what you wanna do?”
She said “I leave it all up to you”
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Get me Screwed Blued And Tattooed
That’s you (that’s right!)
Hot wheels and a private bar
And her show for the go
Caviar, whiskey jar
Walk alone
Like a kid in the candy store
Like a dog without a bone
You can’t stop me now
I’m running back for more
Oh, It hurts like mad
But then again, it ain’t that bad
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Get me Screwed Blued And Tattooed
That’s you (that’s right!)
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Ooh babe Screwed Blued And Tattooed
That’s you (that’s right!)
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Ooh MamaScrewed Blued And Tattooed
That’s you (that’s right!)
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Ooow Screwed Blued And Tattooed
That’s you (that’s right!)
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
You can’t stop me
Screwed Blued And Tattooed
Metal Tuesday- Bloodhound Gang – Lift Your Head Up High And Blow Your Brains Out
Bloodhound Gang is one of those hard rock that may trend into metal kinds of bands. That said, they have some of the best lyrics. Case in point is this week’s entry:

Metal Tuesday – Sabaton – Attero Dominatus
Last Saturday was the seventieth anniversary of the end of the Battle of Berlin. I didn’t understand the true horror of the Eastern Front until Hardcore History’s “Ghosts of the Ostfront” series. To put it into perspective, most of the major battles on the Western Front would have been considered large skirmishes in the vicious fighting between the Soviets and the Nazis.
So, for this week, we turn to Sabaton for an appropriate song.

Metal Tuesday – Brother’s Choice – The Company Band – The House of Capricorn
This week is The Brother’s birthday, so I let him choose Metal Tuesday:
When last we met, I shared the sound and the glory that is Clutch, because, well, Clutch.
Anywho, their frontman (and one of the greatest lyricists in rock) Neil Fallon is also involved in a great band called The Company Band which have an LP and a few EPs under their belt. From this tiny discography, I share with you, my friends, the House of Capricorn off of their latest EP Pros & Cons.
I mean seriously, they made a sound about an orientation lecture for a rehab clinic for forgotten gods and titans ([citation provided]).
