Homicide rates continue to plummet. That’s the good news. But no one knows why. I’m sure some researcher in the future will decipher the cause, but we may be too close to the events to truly decipher.

The headline for this case is often “Alaska seizing man’s plane over a 6-pack.” Of course, the case is a bit murkier. And while I want civil asset forfeiture removed, I’m more ambivalent on criminal asset forfeiture. There’s a difference between a man losing his plane because his passenger was sneaking in beer and a man losing his plane because he was running alcohol to a dry town.

Third Circuit strikes down New Jersey’s ban on “assault weapons” and “high capacity magazines”. This is interesting with the looming Supreme Court case on assault weapons. From what I gather, the Supremes like to let the lower courts percolate through the case law like chili in the crockpot. Just another bit of case law to percolate.

From the AP, we have a story on a $100 million judgement against a gun dealer for selling a Glock kit to a young man who built it and used it to kill himself. It doesn’t help that the dealer didn’t show up to defend themselves. It also looks like Everytown was helping out, which probably means they were bankrolling them.

This is just a product that I want, but not sure if I want to spend the cash. A mag charger that has a slide down physical keyboard. There are times I want more of my phone’s screen when I’m working on a story. Or just want physical keys when the keyboard on the screen is being “difficult”.
