Grandniece Birthday Happenings – Last Saturday, we had a small birthday party for the Grandniece. It was just family, as she was having a larger party with her friends on Sunday at Chuck E Cheese. She seemed pleased with her present haul, but had the most fun when she went up to my office. I have a small bin with some of my toys – I mean, collectibles – that I don’t have a problem with her playing with. She calls them puppet shows. The grandniece also loves talking to Alexa – which I’m not sure how I feel about that. She thought it was really neat when I had my office lights cycle colors. And, as always, when she left, so did the last of our energy.

Conversations at Ward Manor – As The Wife and I were coming back from picking up Grandniece’s birthday cake, we were discussing the need to hide somethings because we have an upcoming surprise for the Grandniece.

The Wife: How likely is it that Grandniece won’t want to go upstairs and see our offices?

Me: It’s possible. Granted about as possible as a meteor hitting the house.

The Wife: Can we not put that kind of thing out to the universe?

Me: Can we not indulge in magical thinking?

The Wife: Meteors are not magical.

Me: No, the concept of putting things out in the universe.

The Wife: Oh, I see. No.
