Most of these links were sent via The Brother who likes to provide blog fodder. And as my want of late, I’m trying to avoid current events and just provide more thinking items.

Of course, the first is a sort of current event.

From Outdoor Life, the ATF director is saying his folks will not cite dealers who transfer silencers on a 4473 instead of a Form 4. For my non-gunnie readers, that means dealers can sell silencers like they were usual firearms instead of restricted. Which is excellent for shooters’ hearing. ATF is promising more guidance.

From Bearing Arms, a think piece with the title “Stop Telling Women Their Guns Will Be Used Against Them.” We need to stop telling women that they can’t protect themselves, and helping them learn effective tools and methods.

From Reason, kids who are banned from social media are finding new ways to communicate – comments on NPR podcasts. I heard from somewhere that the constant surveillance of kids is going to train a really interesting crop of spies who are well-versed in counter-surveillance techniques.

From one of the local news stations, Florida introduced its new drivers license design. And I kinda like it.

From the Smithsonian, the new cat species that filled my feeds for days. Yes it’s cute. Really cute.

From Ars Technica, the 2026 Ig Nobels.

Also from Ars Technica, a fully repairable smart phone for six-fifty. It’s a very neat concept. \

A guide to turning off Apple’s AI with iOS 27.

A very interesting picture. If a little spooky.

Finally, a video on the possible origins of the term “gun.”
